Beauty surrounds us in every corner of the world, often hidden in plain sight. It can be found in the delicate and intricate colors in the petals of a flower, the vibrant hues of a sunset cast against mountains or oceans, or the belly-aching laughter shared between friends you cherish. Yet, there are moments, many times daily, when we overlook these wonders. We are caught up in the rush of daily life or distracted by our own thoughts or scheduled demands of keeping our lives running and moving without imploding. This raises an intriguing question: why do we sometimes fail to recognize the beauty that is so readily available to us? If it's obvious, why don't we appreciate it?
The reasons for this selective perception can be complex. Our busy schedules and the demands of modern living often pull our attention away from the small, exquisite details that make life rich and fulfilling. We may become so focused on our goals and responsibilities that we forget to pause and appreciate the world around us. Additionally, our emotional state can influence our ability to see beauty; when we are feeling down or overwhelmed, the vibrant colors of life may appear muted, making it harder to notice the splendor that exists in our surroundings.Â
However, cultivating an awareness of beauty can transform our experiences and enhance our well-being. By taking a moment to breathe deeply and observe the intricacies of our environment, we can train ourselves to appreciate the artistry of nature and the warmth of human connection. This practice not only enriches our lives but also fosters a sense of gratitude, reminding us that beauty is not just an external phenomenon but also a reflection of our inner state. In this way, we can learn to see beauty everywhere, even in the most unexpected places.
Apparently, noticing is everything. If wonderful and fulfilling things are there, great but it doesn't even begin to change you or lift your soul until you notice it, But there is a second part. After noticing it, it has to mean something to you enough to then honor it. Wouldn't you know it; when you honor beautiful things and moments around you, they somehow honor you right back by lifting your soul and mood and momentarily giving you a gift you don't deserve unless you take it - enriching contentment.Â
